From all the things I learned while living abroad, to the movies and TV shows that helped me cope during the pandemic, Be Bold is meant to be a guide to new and interesting things. I will also share some of my short stories from time to time as I continuously develop my narrative voice. The Somewhat Peculiar Bucket List series brings us to Santorini, Greece in search of a sunken city lost to time. For number 5 in The Somewhat Peculiar Bucket List series, we find ourselves in Switzerland to visit the iconic mountain peak, the Matterhorn. Liv Varanakis hasn’t seen her father, Nico, since she was eight years old, when he suddenly disappeared. Nearly ten years later, he sends a postcard, asking Liv to join him in Santorini to film a documentary for National Geographic about the lost city of Atlantis. When she arrives, she meets Theo, her father’s protégé and cameraman, who’s there to witness all the awkwardness in Liv’s reunion with her father. But as they delve further into the story of Atlantis, Liv begins to wonder if her father brought her to Santorini for other reasons. Got a new plant. I think I'll call it Mal. Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim is a magical retelling of Mulan, set in the world of A'landi. When her father is summoned to compete for the position of royal tailor, Maia Tamarin takes his place, posing as her brother. She must prove herself a worthy tailor as the challenges become more and more difficult. The royal enchanter seems to see right through her disguise, threatening to unravel her secret as she struggles to survive the perilous competition. Free Comic Book Day 2022 was a success. This year's haul was a good one and its so nice to return to fun events and traditions. The Wild Ones by Nafiza Azad is a magical tale about a group of girls with stars in their palms who drift between the real world and the In Between. When Taraana, the boy who gave Paheli the box of stars, is in danger, they band together to protect him from those who try to hurt him.
